Every sneaker has its moment. Recently, we’ve seen silhouettes such as the Nike Air Force 1, Air Jordan 1, and Dunks take the spotlight. While the Nike Air Max 1 has had its time, it looks like it’s going for a comeback. This is all due to the upcoming collaboration between the Dutch streetwear brand, Patta and Nike. Over the years, we’ve seen different iterations of the iconic Nike Air Max 1 sneaker, but this time it’s rather unique with the upcoming 2021 Patta collab.

To promote the upcoming drop, Patta has released a short film starring Mo Farah, Skepta, Little Simz, and Martine Rose. Throughout the film, we get sneak peeks of the subtly different sneaker. While the colorway, paneling, and color blocking pay homage to the classic version, Patta slightly strays away from the conventional design through the mudguard. Unlike the classic straight-edged mudguard, this installation of Patta’s creative freedom materializes in a wavy mudguard edge.

While the design alteration may seem quite simple at first, it seemingly makes a big impact on the sneaker. From being a symbol of Nike’s rich history, the 2021 Patta x Nike Air Max 1 turns the silhouette into a staple for modern fashion. According to rumors, we will be seeing the upcoming sneaker in a light blue and an earthy brown colorway. With this release having similar colorways as recent Nike Dunk drops, it could be a foreshadowing of the Nike Air Max 1 boom.
