When we talk about iconic designer handbags, what comes to mind? The Hermès Birkin, or what used to be known as the rarest handbag in the world. Introduced in the 1980s and named after English actress and singer Jane Birkin, the handbag has continued to be a symbol of wealth and exclusivity over the decades.

Now, when we talk about iconic sandals, what comes to mind? Birkenstocks, otherwise known as “Jesus sandals”. Due to the unique silhouette and sturdy materials, the sandals have made their way from being an everyday staple to becoming a fashion statement.

And when you put these two together, what do you get? The Birkinstock sandal. Mschf, the label behind the 2019 Air Max 97 “Jesus Shoes”, is back at it again. This time with an opulent reimagination of the iconic sandals we’ve come to love made from real Hermès Birkin handbags.

Similar to the craftsmanship of actual Hermès Birkin handbags, each pair made by @mschf is specialized and unique. This means the Birkinstocks are made out of different handbags per pair, changing the price tag of each sandal. With this, the cheapest pair will be available at $34,000(~Php 1.6 million), while the most expensive pair, made from an Hermès Porosus Crocodile Birkin 35 bag, is priced at $76,000(~Php 3.65 million).

Is it worth splurging over a Birkinstock sandal? We’ll let you decide! But we’re curious about your thoughts on this particular project, so let us know! To check out Valentine’s Day Sneakers, right in time for the special occasion, head over to this article.
