The wait is finally over because IKEA Philippines is open! In the meantime, purchases are limited to their website or Megamall pop-up store, but there is still a lot to be excited about as we look through the options that they already have on there website. The downside is, because of the clamor of the public, as of this writing, the site’s shopping capacity is full, so we just have to wait until we can order our dream item—if it’s still there buy the time we checkout.

IKEA - Wikipedia

IKEA was founded in Sweden in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad and has become the world’s biggest furniture supplier since 2008. Its furniture is known for its minimalist and modern approach. IKEA has stores all around the world and finally, the Swedish furniture shop has made the Philippines their home as well. Since the site is already up, we did a hypothetical shopping spree, and here are the top 5 things we loved on their roster.

MELLTORP TABLE

Though the table is meant for the kitchen or dining area, we can’t help but think that it will make a really elegant work table as well because of its all-white finish and clean lines. The Melltorp Table has a melamine surface, making it scratch and stain resistant.  Priced at P2999, it’s a definite steal!

AGUNNARYD Pendant Lamp

Are you looking to dress up your dining room to have a more modern or industrial look? If so, this classy and sturdy aluminum piece might be a match made in heaven. We love the fact that it’s a linear pendant, which makes for more equally distributed lighting for the dining area. It’s conveniently priced at P3490.

HELMER

Here is a simple and compact drawer that will get your home more organized. We appreciate that despite being very affordable at P2490, it looks classy and will easily blend with our other furniture. Furthermore, the applications for this piece have no bounds as it can be used to store supplies from your work-from-home set up down to kitchen tools and utensils. The Helmer is a convinient and elegant way to store almost everything – even our latest purchases from Lazada or Shopee.

MARKUS Office chair

If you’re working from home a lot, you might as well do it like a boss with this super comfortable and durable chair. It is built to outlast years of ups and downs and comes with built-in lumbar support and mesh material for a cool and comfortable working experience. With a price tag of P7990, this is a sure-fire steal when it comes to office chairs.

STRIMMIG Mug

Who doesn’t love a big, hot cup of coffee? This pretty and earthy 12-oz ceramic mug currently is unavailable for delivery, but maybe you can score it if ever it does become available. It is also available in the colors pink and blue and was designed by Jennifer Idrizi, who calls it “a tribute to materials and artform of ceramics” At P150, this is such a good buy!

Opening soon? Reasons why we're excited with the first Ikea in the Philippines – Manila Bulletin

A lot of people have been excited about the opening of IKEA here in the Philippines and we can see why. These items are all under 10k and all combine practicality and designs that are easy to mix and match in any home. We can’t wait for the site to accept orders and fix the technical difficulties that the site is currently facing so that we can purchase some awesome furniture pieces. We are also looking forward to the physical store’s opening which is still projected to occur within the year.
