To further expand its partnership with Jappy Agoncillo for the “Manila Hoops” tee collection, adidas announces the DON Issue #3 “Origin Story”, which was designed by Agoncillo himself.

This particular colorway of the DON Issue #3 “Origin Story” takes inspiration from the vibrant street style of Filipinos, along with Agoncillo’s love for comic books and the heroic origin story of 3-time NBA All-Star Donovan Mitchell.

Key design elements of the sneaker include a wing tip icon on the heel tab to represent Mitchell’s college team Louisville Cardinals, tiger stripes on the heel to represent Mitchell’s middle school team Greenwich Country Day School Tigers, and illustrations of Charlie Parker and Louis Armstrong in the sock liners to pay homage to the icons of the Utah Jazz.

Other key details of the sneaker include a map of Manila on the left pair and a map of Elmsford, New York–Mitchell’s home state–on the right pair, and a halftone pattern on the upper that references its comic book-inspired design.

“Taking inspiration from how DON was named after Donovan Mitchell’s ‘Determination Over Negativity’ mantra, the design pays homage not only to the history of wins and losses of Donovan, but also the endless possibilities that the future has in store with continuous hard work and determination,” Agoncillo explains.

The DON Issue #3 “Origin Story” will retail for Php 5,800 and will be available first at the adidas Brand Center in Glorietta and adidas.com.ph on June 10, and in other adidas stores across the Philippines and Southeast Asia on June 12.
