The Air Jordan 5 dubbed “Fire Red” popped up on the online shops of Nike Philippines and TITAN today, sending a lot of Filipino sneakerheads in a mad scramble to cop this iconic OG retro.

This sneaker debuted 30 years ago and it brought a lot of firsts to basketball shoes. This includes the clear rubber sole which was inspired by the Nike Marty Macfly’s featured in Back to the Future II. It was also the first time that a basketball shoe got a molded foam on the upper.

Design-wise, Tinker Hatfield shared in several interviews that it was inspired by fighter planes because of Michael Jordan’s smooth yet aggressive on-court play style. In fact, Michael Jordan wore this exact color way in a game against Cleveland in 1990. The Chicago Bulls won the game in overtime with MJ scoring 69 points.

The Air Jordan 5 ‘Fire Red’ is sold out so if you want to cop one, best to wait for Nike shops to offer them once the lockdown ends or you contact your favorite reseller.

Expect to see more Jordan 5s this year because of the 30th year anniversary. The most hype will probably be the sail/white color way of the OFF-WHITE JORDAN 5 designed by Virgil Abloh. If you want to watch a video unboxing and review of the black color way, you can see the video down below.
