Known for their pancake-like take on midsoles and an affinity for multi tongues, sacai and Nike are on a roll with a neat lineup of VaporWaffle colorways that are set to drop. This one though is an attention grabber.
Decked out in a tan and navy colorway, this shoe by sacai designer/owner Chitose Abe is a clear nod to the classics with a doubled up approach that mixes Nike’s heritage with an unpredictable yet exciting future.
The tan uppers are made of a nylon base with touches of suede. The rich navy swoosh accents the other swoosh which is of an off white shade. Of course we’ve got that ridiculous midsole treatment rounded off with double tongues and laces too if you want to go all in.
Truly, the sacai aesthetic has challenged and pushed the boundaries of sneakerdom since it surfaced. Who would’ve thought that sneaker design can be pushed in such a way like this? These are crazy unpredictable times, and this may just be that shoe to sum up that vibe.
