There has been a recent trend in the world of sneakers, and fashion as a whole for retro styles to make a comeback. This, however, has been taking place for years with numbered Jordans. While the fan-favorite “Breds” will always exist, another iconic colorway actually pays homage to MJ’s rival in the game of basketball: Patrick Ewing’s College, Georgetown. It has just been announced that the Air Jordan 1 High 85 “Georgetown” is scheduled to release on April 2 of this year.

This upcoming high-cut sneaker boasts a mix of College Navy, Summit White, and Tech Grey throughout the entirety of the shoe. Premium light gray leather uppers are partnered with navy overlays along with off-white nylon tongues. For the branding, we experience the traditional Swooshes found on the sneaker’s midfoot, along with the Wings logo on the ankle collar. In addition to this, ‘Nike Air’ is spelled on the sneaker’s tongue tags and insoles. To cap off the Georgetown aesthetic, we get pure white midsoles and navy rubber outsoles, representing the university’s colors.

Nike not only dedicated time and energy to the design of the Air Jordan 1 High 85 “Georgetown”, but also the presentation of the sneaker as it comes fresh from its packaging. When you purchase this upcoming release, the sneaker includes a retro Nike shoebox as well as an information tag as seen on the original pair in 1985. Perhaps it is because of these minuscule details that the Air Jordan 1 High 85 “Georgetown” is priced significantly higher than the typical Air Jordan 1 High silhouette at $200 (~Php 10.3k) compared to the usual $170 (~Php 8.7k).

While black and white colorways received the most love in 2021 as seen on the Nike Dunk Lows, maybe it’s navy blue and white colorways’ time to take the spotlight. If that will be the case, this sneaker is spearheading the entire operation. In the meantime, stay tuned to the Top 5 Jordan Brand Sneakers Dropping in Spring 2022.
