The Huawei Mate XS 5G is the latest flagship offering of the Chinese tech behemoth. It features beastly specifications (Kirin 990 5G, 8GB RAM, 512GB Internal Storage) and the latest trend in consumer technology — a folding display. The main screen is 6.6-inches while the secondary is almost just as big at 6.3-inches.

Cop or drop?

For the camera set-up it features Huawei’s Leica-branded quad camera set-up. You get a 40MP main shooter, a 16MP ultra-wide, 8MP telephoto, and a TOF sensor.

The specifications and the folding display are insanely awesome but there are two major drawbacks: it lacks Google Mobile Services & the price.

Huawei has been racing to offer an alternative to the Google Play Store with their Huawei Mobile App Gallery. While they have made incredible progress in the last few months, it still doesn’t have the same breadth as the Play Store. There are also several key apps that are still not present which you will have to side load.

As for the price, the pre-order is P139,999. It comes with 50GB Huawei Cloud Storage for 3 months and you can order it via Silicon Valley, Memo Express, AeroPhone, and IntoGadgets.
