The South Korean movie scene has been making headlines recently due to the astounding success of Netflix’s latest drama thriller series, Squid Game. The headlines don’t stop there, however, as Skechers has just announced their newest regional brand ambassador. Well-renowned actor and star of the oscar-winning film Parasite, Park Seo Joon, will be the face of Skechers for Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Macau, all of which are important growth markets for the brand.


For those who are fans of Park Seo Joon, it is no question why Skechers found it fitting to employ the actor as their regional brand ambassador. Cedrick Tan, Skechers Senior Vice President explains their choice by saying:

“With the need to connect with Skechers’ consumers across six different markets, having an ambassador with broad appeal is paramount. Park certainly ticks all the boxes for us,”

While Park Seo Joon has made a name for himself as an actor by starring in series such as Kill Me, Heal MeWhat’s Wrong with Secretary Kim, Itaewon Class, and Record of Youth, he is also expected to play a role in the upcoming The Marvels film in November of 2022.

While this news may come as a surprise to some, a partnership between international sneaker brands and Korean Drama actors is nothing new. For example, we’ve seen collaborations between Nike and G-Dragon for the Nike Air Force 1 “Para-Noise”, which sold out in a matter of hours, and Puma and BTS as they collaborated for a version of Puma’s Basket shoe.
