Since the announcement of the collaboration, the Louis Vuitton X NBA partnership has continued to develop. While the collaboration began with the Larry O’Brien Trophy case, it slowly became a collection including boots and bags. With the unveiling of the complete collection, we are able to see the partnership in full effect.
“Ideas of luxury can be found in the sports world and its champions as much as in traditional forms of artistry. This collection celebrates the cultural contribution of basketball and its diverse characters, and the idea of relatability as a force of unity today.”
-Virgil Abloh (artistic director of Louis Vuitton)
The intent of this collection is to seamlessly coincide with the lifestyle of an NBA player. Off the hardwood floor, an NBA player has three main duties: traveling, game arrivals, and press conferences. With this, the upcoming collection divides their pieces based on these categories. In addition, the upcoming collaboration also includes varying types of footwear and jewelry.
The portion of the collection dedicated to traveling includes casual clothing, ensuring whoever is wearing the pieces are comfortable during long haul flights. The game arrival portion features pieces demonstrating both a casual and sleek aesthetic, capable of impressing the locker room tunnel crowd. Lastly, the press conference portion is dedicated to high-profile pieces, suited for the cameras.
The footwear and jewelry part of this collection presents a wide variety of options. Ranging from subtle pieces to ones demanding more attention, it all depends on the wearer. This Louis Vuitton x NBA menswear collection is set to release on November 20, expectedly through select Louis Vuitton retail locations and their Website.
